YourNextRead.com was co-founded by Robert Boland and Marko Dukic. They created the site to assist readers in finding books that appeal to their individual tastes without wading through excessive online content.
YourNextRead bases recommendations on books and authors that a user enters and renders results of similar types of books. Results are based on input from other users.
When a user enters a book title, a map of books that may be related to it is generated. Users may then indicate a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” if they feel any of the connections is a book that would be enjoyed by someone who liked the original entry. This helps the site make accurate suggestions. Users may also click links to amazon, Facebook, Twitter, or email to preview the book or talk to others about it. An option to save books to a list on the site is also available.
Entering an author yields a list of works to choose from to initiate a search for related books. Users can save lists for later viewing.
One drawback is the number of results generated for each book. During review, a maximum of 16 results, many from the same author were provided. The results can be filtered, but some books yielded very few suggestions in the first place and filtering simply whittled down an already small list.
Users provide an email, password, username, and age group to sign up. An email with confirmation link is sent immediately.
YourNextRead is completely free to use. The site is an affiliate marketer for Amazon and requests that you make purchases through the site links to support the application.
Readers looking for resource for their next book could enjoy this application. But there are better websites that offer interesting alternatives for readers based on the opinions of other readers.
